Born in the wonderful city of New Orleans, Melisa Ackermann grew up in and around southern Louisiana. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from LSU, specializing in Painting and Drawing. This is where her love of photography began.

Seven years ago, now living in Austin, Texas, Melisa Ackermann purchased a new camera and that stimulated her love affair all over again. She realized that she truly loved photographing people, especially children. And she strives to capture reality as we see it every day, un-posed and unfettered, in natural light. And to capture a child's curiosity and playfulness…and that look they always give you. She does this for the love of the image. And her hope is to provide you with images that you will cherish for a lifetime.

Austin Dance Photographer - Since 2007, Melisa Ackermann has been the resident photographer for Tapestry Dance Studio in Austin, Texas. She also has also photographed several University of Texas Dance students, providing head shots and movement portraits. She has a true love of dance and the structure of the human form, which shows in her photography
